Location: El Ejido, Almería
Team: Joaquín Aramburu Maqua, Julio Domínguez Nevado y José Luis Gómez de Tomás
Client: AZAGRA S.A.
The housing complex Sol de Alboran is erected on the Mediterranean seafront and a short distance away from the Puerto de Almerimar, in las Salinas de Guardias Viejas.
These 332 apartments are organized in six blocks, which are arranged in such a way, that its long axis is perpendicular to the coast line. Each building is constituted by two parallel and open blocks separated by a “street-patio” that opens towards the sea. The access is situated in the north façade, to the main street.
The idea of a prismatic architecture is sought by the use of juxtaposed and twinned small dimension masses that respect the architectural vernacular. The idea of indigenous roots is reinforced with the approach of an architectural and constructive design, which includes ecological and energy efficient criteria, as well as the appropriate non-polluting materials.
