Description: Ronda´s Regional Hospital, under construction, is located on the outskirts of the city on a hillside and surrounded by holm oaks. It is a four storey hospital of 34000 m2.
The functional program is developed through a series of modules displayed against the slope. These modules lay their “heads” on the lowest part of the plot and on a wedge shaped piece housing a great lobby with a triple height canopy access. Public areas are located around the lobby: cafeteria, assembly hall, chapel, nursery and entrances to out-patient services and access cores leading to in-patient areas. The grand piazza of the building is created where all the public movements of the building occur and is crowned with a continuous skylight over the triple height of the lobby.
The rear of the building, in the highest part of the plot takes the form of a block containing the modules, and housing private functional areas. On the ground floor, which is located at second floor level on this side of the building, we can find maintenance services, supplies, pharmacy and mortuary and on the third floor, surgery areas, obstetric and sterilization.
The main facility building is located on the southwest of the building and connects on the roof level with the rooftop mechanical units, situated over the main modules.
