Milestones of Árgola architects in 2024

In 2024, Árgola Arquitectos continued to solidify its position as a leader in the design and development of innovative and functional hospital spaces. With a focus on quality, sustainability, and the well-being of patients and healthcare professionals, we have achieved significant advancements that set a new standard in medical architecture.

In this article, we explore the major milestones we have achieved this year, highlighting the most significant projects and creative solutions that are transforming the landscape of hospital architecture.

New technical block and hospitalization at the October 12 Hospital

Having designed the new technical and inpatient wing of the 12 de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid, we have completed the construction management of Phase 1. This hospital is a benchmark in hospital architecture, having been one of the largest hospital construction projects in Spain. The building, with a surface area of 148,262 m², has 1,450 beds, 41 operating rooms, 109 ICU beds for adults and children, and 47 neonatal intensive care units, integrating cutting-edge technology and functional spaces. Its structure combines a technical wing on the lower floors with inpatient wards above, optimizing efficiency and comfort. With therapeutic gardens and sustainable design, this project enhances the healthcare experience and positions the hospital as a model of modernization and excellence. We'll be starting Phase 2 soon, so stay tuned!

Renovation of the Gregorio Marañón Hospital

In 2024, at Árgola Arquitectos, we took on the challenge of redesigning the Gregorio Marañón University Hospital, a landmark of Madrid's healthcare system, with the aim of adapting it to the healthcare demands of the future. This project represents a unique opportunity to combine technological innovation with the humanization of hospital spaces, improving the experience for both patients and professionals.

The intervention begins with a strategically designed functional and spatial plan that not only meets current requirements but also incorporates the flexibility to integrate emerging technologies. This approach allows the hospital to anticipate the needs of a constantly evolving service portfolio, positioning it as a leader in personalized medicine, multidisciplinary care, and advanced patient care.

This project solidifies our design philosophy, integrating sustainability, functionality, and cutting-edge technology to ensure a hospital environment that is both efficient and welcoming. We'll be finishing the design soon—we promise it will amaze you!

Prontoterapia at Fuenlabrada Hospital

This year we also began managing the construction of the proton therapy building at Fuenlabrada Hospital, a key project in the fight against cancer. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, this facility optimizes cancer treatment using proton accelerators, which are more precise and less invasive. Its functional and efficient design integrates complex technical areas with high-quality patient care spaces. The project reflects a balance between technological innovation and patient well-being, positioning the hospital as an international leader in advanced treatments.

New Cordillera Hospital (Chile)

With our Chilean subsidiary, we have begun construction work on the new Cordillera Province Hospital, which represents a key advance in health infrastructure in Santiago, designing an innovative, high-complexity hospital center.

Its main features include:

– Main clinical building consisting of 9 upper levels and 3 underground levels.

– Secondary Technical Support Building.

– Nursery, Kindergarten and School Club Building.

– Extension Building and Central Courtyard.

– Connections with the CRS.

Highlights include its energy efficiency, independent circulation for users and staff, and universal accessibility; as well as a harmonious volume with the current CRS.

2024 has been a pivotal year for Árgola Arquitectos, marked by significant milestones that reinforce its leadership in hospital architecture. Our innovative projects, which integrate sustainability, advanced technology, and functionality, have transformed the healthcare landscape, positioning the firm as a benchmark in cutting-edge hospital design.

We hope to continue in 2025 with the same or even greater strength, and that together we can continue to generate value for everyone.
