49 Social Housing Units in San Eloy

PROJECT:  49 VPO (Officially Protected Housing) units, garages and commercial premises in the San Eloy neighborhood of Puerto Real, Cádiz

The project includes at least three types of buildings.

The first group comprises the buildings that make up the arcaded plaza, specifically buildings 6, 7, and the rear sections of 8 and 9. The aim is to achieve a sense of compositional unity through taut facades with continuous horizontally arranged openings. These are residential buildings for collective use, arranged in an open block of three stories, one of which, the ground floor, is an open portico.

The second type corresponds to buildings 1 to 4 that are supported against the party walls of the San Eloy blocks, forming the pedestrian street that links the newly formed square with Santo Domingo Street.

These are two-story, semi-detached single-family homes with a backyard. The four buildings are separated by three pedestrian walkways connecting the newly created pedestrian street with the existing road network of the San Eloy neighborhood.

A variant of this type is building no. 10 between the existing garden and Rosario, S. Juan Bautista de la Salle and Santo Domingo streets, since it develops the same scheme of duplex, attached single-family homes, whose access is through a single entrance and open gallery on the first floor in order to reserve the ground floor for the use of facilities and covered public open space.

Finally, buildings 8 and 9 on Soledad Street maintain the existing facades, and the structure of the courtyard and the first bay between it and the street.
