PROJECT: Competition for the Central Hospital of Fraternidad Muprespa

Given the size of the hospital (50 beds and 7,000 m²⁾, its location on an urban plot with exempt building regulations, and the available building area, it is essential to establish a functional scheme that predefines the zoning of functional areas, defining their functional relationships, their proximity, the differentiation of circulation routes, and the location of public or internal areas, as well as the differentiation of vertical circulation cores. This scheme is crucial because it determines the hospital's operation throughout its lifespan, establishes its potential for transformation, and ensures its flexibility.

The program is more precisely defined in the floor plan, centering the public area on the main façade and the more internal area on the rear façade. This more internal section, which we call the Technical Block, is primarily comprised of the most specialized areas, defined by their technical requirements and needs, their topological relationships with other areas, and their need for internally differentiated circulation. This zone includes the Surgical Block and Radiology and is a separate building attached to the main building, with its climate control systems located directly on its roof.

The core principles of the building's environmental strategy prioritize making it environmentally viable. This means minimizing any negative environmental impacts the building may have, from a social, economic, and environmental sustainability perspective.

The building will feature an architectural design that will reduce its energy demand. The following actions will be taken to achieve this:
