Expressway Project
PROJECT: Project to strengthen the urban center in the San Isidro business district through the integration of the Vía Expresa – Paseo de la República
The San Isidro financial or business district is an area of great importance, with great potential both in terms of image and economy, which is nevertheless physically and functionally divided into two halves, east and west, by the urban highway called Paseo de la República that crosses it in a north-south direction. This is a serious urban planning problem.
Goals:
- Unite the city, stitch it together. Facilitate mobility and cross-functional accessibility.
- To provide centrality and open spaces to the San Isidro Financial District, in order to create a functional attraction hub in the new spaces.
- A large number of parks, squares and public spaces for pedestrian use.
- Eliminate or reduce the environmental impacts that the Expressway produces.
- Maintain the functionality of the Expressway.
- Economically self-sustaining performance.
The proposal is complemented by a large parking area that will serve the entire development and its surroundings, and by a new building for tertiary uses of high architectural quality that will act as urban landmarks in the district and as a focus for generating social and economic activity, creating a city.
