Francisco Díaz Specialty Center
PROJECT: Francisco Díaz Comprehensive Diagnostic and Treatment Center (Virgen del Val) in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid
The Virgen del Val Specialist Center has undergone a significant renovation during its construction, designed to incorporate the functional and healthcare structure of future prototypes known as Comprehensive Diagnostic and Treatment Centers. These centers are conceived to complement and more effectively support hospital services through the high-tech equipment necessary for high-resolution diagnostic testing: MRI, CT, remote-controlled imaging, digital radiology stations, high-end ultrasound and mammography units, outpatient surgery for patients requiring non-hospital admission, and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures across various specialties.
All these additions to the program of the original Center require an alteration of the building's structure, a reconfiguration of areas, and the occupation of courtyards and small added structures.
