Isla Cristina Coastal Park
PROJECT: Isla Cristina Coastal Park
The Coastal Path runs for three kilometers between the main beach and the "Little Blue House" beach. It is a popular spot where visitors can enjoy nature in the shade of the pine forests and at the foot of the dunes. The Coastal Path was built in three phases. The first phase covered the central section of the path, between the Camping Beach and Hoyo Beach. The second and third phases were completed later, running between the main beach and Hoyo Beach, and again between Hoyo Beach and the Little Blue House Beach.
The Project is intended to address the conditioning and adaptation of a currently very deteriorated area that is acting as a barrier between the city and the sea.
The area is under intense pressure to be used by the population, but its poor condition means that only marginal and clandestine activities take place there.
The project had the following objectives:
a) Functional:
Beach Access
Fixing of the 1st dune chain
b) Ecological-landscape:
Maintenance of the natural topography of the dunes and their vegetation.
Maintenance and improvement of the pine forest and its undergrowth.
Creation of new vegetation areas suitable to the climate and of scenic interest.
c) Economic:
Low-cost maintenance.
