Naval Officers' Residence
PROJECT: Mixed Logistics Residence for Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers in the Manoteras Industrial Park in Madrid.
The Mixed Logistics Residence building for Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Navy, in the Manoteras Industrial Park in Madrid, develops its program of functional needs on three levels: in the basement the parking area and facilities are developed; on the ground floor are located the service, administration and personnel areas of the residence; on the upper floors are arranged the rooms up to a total of 299 units.
Above the ground floor rise two asymmetrically sized blocks designed to house the residence's rooms. While the western block has eight floors, the eastern one has only five. The two blocks are connected by a light walkway over the ground floor lobby. Not only does the difference in height distinguish the two volumes, but also a horizontal offset between the residential blocks to allow for better views of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range. For this reason, the percentage of openings on the eastern facades is also much higher than on the western facades.
In order to provide the rooms with an adequate level of comfort both inside and out, a large green area has been developed by including garden areas that also take on the function of horizontal “facades” of the building, perceptible from the rooms.
