Parking in Cordoba

PROJECT: Two parking buildings in the city center of Cordoba.

This Basic Project develops the preliminary project submitted for the competition, with a program of 544 above-ground car parking spaces and a bicycle parking area.

This proposed parking facility aims to provide parking spaces in an area of ​​Córdoba that is clearly lacking, both for short-term parking and for residents. A series of archaeological digs were carried out on this site, revealing significant remains that precluded any type of underground construction. Therefore, a surface parking lot is proposed. This parking lot could be covered with structures that do not require deep foundations, and could even include one or two additional floors above ground, always subject to the limitation of using shallow foundations.

The parking proposal is based on a series of basic premises:

• Alter the current road layout as little as possible.

• Minimal visual impact, and integration into the environment.

• Ease of execution to minimize construction work.

• Optimization of surfaces for each vehicle.
