La Paz Hospital
PROJECT: Competition for the Comprehensive Renovation of the La Paz University Hospital Complex
The project addresses the construction of a large hospital in phases, so that it replaces the existing one without interrupting its use.
The main hospital building consists of a base and two towers.
The base is divided by a Central Street from North to South that acts as a hall and public area from which a series of rectangular modules are aligned on both sides of said street and separated by courtyards, which allows for proper natural lighting of each module.
To the west of the main street is the General and Traumatological Hospital, to the east the Maternal and Child Hospital, each crowned by a tower.
Each of the basement levels houses the functional areas of the technical block and those related to outpatient services. These are connected in the basements by the hospital's general services and parking.
Above them rise the towers, which house, in addition to hospitalizations, the ICUs, doctors' residences and administrative units.
