PROJECT: Renovation and Expansion of the Santa Bárbara Hospital in Soria

The expansion project proposed an upgrade of the hospital, including three new sections. Originally, the Soria General Hospital was designed as a large, seven-story building, very similar to classic functional designs from the 1970s, and following a T-shaped base and tower layout.

The first of the new, large-scale pieces embraces the widest wing of the current hospital, juxtaposing it and creating a four-story base that, at the point of contact, rises to top the end wall.

The second section was located on the opposite side, creating two floors above ground. And the third is intended to house the outpatient clinics, featuring a kind of spine of intersecting courtyards.

The renovation work also included the adaptation of the old spaces that were left vacant, once the services were moved to the new building.
