PROJECT: Preliminary design for the construction of a new commuter rail station in Vernon (France)

The strong presence of L'Avenue Foch, established in 1723, to which the parallel expressway is attached, and the boundary-like nature of this thoroughfare and the railway line itself within the town, inevitably lead to the proposal's attempt to unite the two sides separated by the road and railway. Furthermore, it aims to be a clear linear landmark, extending the tree-lined promenade that diagonally bridges this double divide. The building, conceived as an urban link, seeks to provide a solution beyond mere construction, aiming to address this problem of discontinuity in this suburban environment.

This gives the building proposal an equally urban character, with the program reduced to the bare minimum so that this new link facilitates the circulation of travelers – and even pedestrians who do not necessarily have to take a train, but do avoid this urban break on foot – from practically any direction of transit between adjacent areas.
