PROJECT: Renovation of the Semi-Basement and Central Nave of the Velázquez House

This project involves the rehabilitation of part of a group of historic buildings used for cultural purposes. This group of buildings is listed in the General Urban Development Plan (PGOUM) with level 1 protection and comprehensive protection status, and is characterized by its use as a university cultural facility.

The intervention focused on the rehabilitation of the semi-basement floor and the central nave of the main building, addressing work to adapt the interior space to current uses, replacing the facilities with others that comply with existing regulations, adapting the building for accessibility for people with reduced mobility and adapting it to fire protection regulations.

To ensure the proper adaptation of the facilities to current regulations, it is necessary to install technical equipment in a suitable room located on the semi-basement floor and in a semi-buried English courtyard in the garden.

This first phase, the adaptation of the central nave, enabled the facilities to facilitate as much as possible the execution of the second phase, in which work will be carried out on the side naves in the near future.

These works were carried out while the building continued to be used by its regular occupants. The building's uses were temporarily restructured to adapt its operation to the construction work and vice versa.
