The plot of land, its dimensions (15,200 m2) and its relatively elongated shape, undoubtedly present a challenge for the choice of hospital design. The dimensions, and even more so the shape, significantly influence the configuration of areas and the selection of the functional layout in this case.

The shape is that of an irregular trapezoid, elongated from North to South, with a length of 226 meters and a width that ranges from 56 meters in the North to 83 meters on the South facade.

It suggests a hospital with a clearly urban typology, that is, occupying almost the entire plot and using the perimeter roads directly as a ring road, with hardly any internal roads to the plot and necessarily, in order to propose a building with courtyards and light it will be necessary to resort to an underground parking lot.

A 200-bed hospital building should not have a large vertical development, especially nowadays when the models used are primarily horizontal; however, due to the urban characteristics, it is necessary to use a base and tower scheme, placing the hospitalization at height with two three-story modules and distributing the rest of the services in the base on two floors and a semi-basement, taking advantage of the slope of the plot.

The building scheme must be clearly linear due to the length of the plot and must be composed of several consecutive buildings joined and connected to each other by circulation routes.
