University Hospital of Torrejón
PROJECT: New University Hospital of Torrejón
The new hospital is located on the eastern edge of the urban area of Torrejón de Ardoz. Within the municipal General Urban Development Plan (PGOU), the plot for the site corresponds to plot E-5 within the "Soto del Henares" Partial Plan, definitively approved by the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council on May 25, 2001.
The area was in a consolidation phase, and the proximity of the commuter rail line and the N-II highway, both in the northern part of the area of action, is of particular importance.
The Torrejón de Ardoz Hospital is located in the municipality of the same name on a plot called property E-5 within the “Soto de Henares” Partial Plan, with an area of 62,396 m², and within a plot that has access from the roads that make up 2 of the 4 boundaries.
The hospital complex comprises three main building groups arranged along two circulation axes. In the central area are the inpatient wings, extending from north to south; to the west are the wings forming the Technical Block; and to the south is the outpatient clinic and administration building. The hospital is completed by the utility building located at the eastern end of the complex. A gallery below the semi-basement level facilitates distribution from the power plants.
General Services and Hospitality are located in the semi-basement, supported by the circulation axis in the northern area, and have independent loading and unloading areas for supplies.
