PROJECT: Execution Project and Technical Management of the University Hospital of Toledo

Originally, SESCAM planned the construction of the New Toledo Hospital in 2004.

Construction of the new Toledo Hospital began in 2007, based on a project that addressed the previously developed functional plan. Subsequently, GICAMAN (the public company in charge of managing the project) terminated the construction contract. Currently, the project is approximately 30% complete, although the building structures are 80% finished according to the original design.

SESCAM assumed the commitment to complete the University Hospital of Toledo and, for this purpose, required a Public-Private Partnership contract model as a facilitating formula.

After these setbacks, the project finally got back on track in 2015, when Árgola was hired to draft the execution project, and in 2017 it was hired again to carry out the technical direction of the works.

The building is located in the Santa María de Benquerencia (Toledo) residential industrial park, between Vía de Tarpeya, Avenida Río Boladiez and Calle del Río Estenilla.

The plot is roughly rectangular with a curved shape, approximately 1,100 meters long and 300 meters wide. It is bordered by Avenida Rio Boladiez to the North, Avenida Rio Estenilla to the East, and Vía Tarpeya to the South and West.

It has a slope of about 18 meters in its North-South direction and an uneven topography with isolated elevations of up to 20 meters in height.

The total area of the plot is 350,888m², and although the cadastral information states that the plot measures 342,444m², we have detected that the boundaries differ, and this may be due to the adaptation of the plot to the final design of the road that surrounds the plot.

The hospital has 655 beds and 10 floors, and includes the following units:

OUTPATIENT AREAS: Adult Emergency Department, Pediatric Emergency Department, Outpatient Clinic and Consulting Rooms, Medical Day Hospital, Onco-Hematological Day Hospital, Pediatric Day Hospital, Dialysis and Rehabilitation Unit.

HOSPITALIZATION: Medical Hospitalization, Surgical Hospitalization, Psychiatric Hospitalization, Obstetric Hospitalization, Pediatric Hospitalization, Adult ICU, Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU.

- TECHNICAL AND ASSISTANCE AREAS: Urpa, Surgical Block, Obstetric Block, Endoscopy Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Unit (Hemodynamics), Diagnostic Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Clinical Laboratory, Blood Bank, Pathological Anatomy, Genetics, Microbiology, Hematology.
- ASSISTANCE SUPPORT: Pharmacy, Sterilization, Admission, Clinical Documentation.
- GENERAL SUPPORT AREAS: Management and Administration, User Services and Social Work, Library, Preventive Medicine and Occupational Health, Teaching, Research, Administrative Units of the Services.
- LOGISTICS SUPPORT AREAS: Information Technology, Maintenance, Warehouse and Logistics.
- GENERAL SERVICES AREA: Kitchen, Cafeteria Kitchen and Dining Rooms, Staff and Public Cafeteria, Linen, Cleaning, Worship Area, Mortuary and Obituary, Hall and Commercial Area, Waste Management Center, Civil Security and Telephone Exchange, Concessionaire.
